Mycopaper-Making with Luz Paczka Giorgi

About Luz
Luz is a Mexican-Colombian health designer and researcher currently based in Toronto. She focuses her work on participatory methods of design to achieve global health, health equity and community wellbeing. She has been part of transdisciplinary and international teams that have worked on guidelines and frameworks for critical areas of development for healthcare like: environmental sustainability, immigrant mental health, equitable access to stroke care, end-of-life community conversations, and co-design as a way to develop patient information tools for pregnant individuals.
Luz has a Honours Bachelor's of Science in Neuroscience and Psychology, and a Master's of Design in Design for Health. Her master's thesis project consisted of co-designing with immigrant women an ecosystem service design model for equitable access to natural spaces for mental health in Canada.

September 2024: “🍄A few weeks ago, Olivier Herlin and I had the opportunity to facilitate a mycopaper-making workshop with our friends from Sketch Night.
🌳It was a casual setting, at a park, on one of the last warm summer evenings, and the session was full of curiosity and creativity. It was truly special to share this craft with other members of our community, and to see people's interest in learning more about fungi.
✨As a social designer, I look forward to collaborating in more community events that embrace capacity building for skills that can (re)connect people with different aspects of nature. Let's teach each other new skills and empower our communities through knowledge and creativity. 💪
